Prior to WW2, Stalin orchestrated a famine in Ukraine that killed 20 million.

Russia's role in WW2 is ambiguous at best, since Russian written history is about as reliable as their news networks.

Stalin also signed a "secret pact" with Hitler and invaded Poland from the East 16 days after Germany invaded from the West in 1939. I would disagree that Soviet history in WWII is so clearly black and white. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_invasion_of_Poland
